Description
The 130 raft is a great choice for narrow, rocky and technical rivers. It makes a sporty paddle raft or a smaller load oar boat. Self-bailing floors are a zippered envelope that holds coated nylon inflatable mattress-style floors; envelope makes them flat on the top and bottom. Double-lacings let them bail rapidly; thwarts attach to the floor lacing and can be easily taken out or moved. Which series is for you? R, D, or E?

r series
The popular ‘R’ Series rafts are the workhorses of the AIRE fleet. These boats are ideal for carrying people and cargo. ‘R’ stands for ‘round’, meaning a traditional round boat design. ‘R’ Series rafts have a broader beam, large tube diameters and long waterlines making them the most stable of all AIRE rafts.
At 13’ the AIRE 130R may not seem like a lot of boat, but it is a rock-solid 13’ raft. It’s a great option for people who want to get out on the river and see the sights, but not get roughed up too much, making it a great choice for less experienced rafters or guides with timid clients.
D series
The ‘D’ Series rafts evolved from the sporty design of the Puma and Super Puma. The ‘D’ refers to the diminishing tubes of the bow and stern of this model. The ‘D’ series design offers a maneuverable and responsive boat while being able to accommodate large loads.
The 130D is a raft guide favorite. It’s stable, but maneuverable; safe, but splashy. Ideally suited for R2-R7 paddle teams, the 130D will get you and the crew down the river or keep it fun when you outfit it with a frame for overnight trips.
- Diminished Bow and Stern Tubes: 130D side tubes are 19” in diameter, but as you move toward the bow and stern the tube diameter diminishes to 17″ which gives paddle teams a splashy action-packed ride.
- Continuous Curve Design: The continuous curve shape of the 130D helps it maneuver quickly. It also makes the 130D more durable because there are no seams where the raft commonly comes in contact with the ground or your trailer.
- Stability and Maneuverability: At 6’4″ wide, the 130D has a sweet balance between stability and maneuverability.
E series
The ‘E’ Series rafts stands for the ‘elliptical’ shape. The ‘E’ Series rafts feature a high rising, pointed bow and a squared stern. The squared stern makes a nice platform for the paddle captain. Our ‘E’ Series rafts rise 2 inches higher in the bow than our ‘R’ series rafts. ‘E’ series boats have a slightly narrower beam and smaller diameter tubes.
The uniquely shaped 130E is ideal for steep, fast-flowing rivers. It’s a fun boat for R2-R7 paddle teams. It also makes a fun day-tripping raft when outfitted with a frame. It features a high-rising bow and smaller diameter tubes for action-packed whitewater adventures on challenging rivers.
- Narrow Feel: The 130E measures 6’ 1.5″ at its widest. That, combined with the elliptical design facilitate quick maneuvers through technical rapids.
- Unique Bow Design: Unlike many other rafts, the 130E has a pointed bow that helps it shed water more easily. The bow also turns up radically from the waterline, making it ideal for navigating big drops and holes.
- Straight Side Tubes: The side tubes on the 130E are straighter than the side tubes on other boats, helping it track straight through difficult rapids.
- Guide Friendly Stern: As a guide, you’ll have the best seat in the house. It’s wide and accommodating and will allow you to position yourself in the best way possible to keep your raft in check.
