Description
Two-part StaBond adhesive is included in repair kits supplied by the leading makers of PVC/urethane inflatables, AIRE and Maravia. Adhesive comes with the correct amount of catalyst in a separate glass vial. Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) is the companion solvent for thinning and surface preparation. Repair instructions: First thin the adhesive with MEK, then mix catalyst with the glue in the same proportion (If mixing 1/4 the container of glue, use 1/4 of the catalyst, etc.). Prepare the surface by first roughing with sandpaper, then applying MEK, and brush a thin coat of adhesive to both surfaces. After that coat is dry, apply a second and set the patch, rolling or rubbing out air bubbles. A small amount of MEK can be used to reactivate glue that has dried before you apply the patch. MEK is highly toxic, so use in a well-ventilated area and wear protective gloves.
