I’ve had this for 7 years. It is very heavy duty. i am docking it one star because I think it should come with a hinged lid and because at 45 lbs. it is a little too heavy.

That’s not a bad idea! We like that the lid comes completely off so you can set the firepan legs in it and get a nice solid flat surface when you are on the river banks or to put our dutch ovens on it while cooking but an option with a hinged lid is not a bad idea at all. Thank you for taking the time to write a review and sharing your thoughts. Enjoy many more fires and lots of s’mores in that fire pan! Spring has Sprung! Kindly, Renee

I’ve had this for 8 years. It is still going strong. It is really heavy. I got the large one and I love being able to cook with two 14″ dutch ovens side by side. But it’s really heavy. I like that the lid detaches. I use C-clamps to make a wind screen when needed. I wish they made it with detachable hinges like the cook partner stoves.

Another great recommendation on the wind screen! We normally have the coals burning underneath so the lip on the bottom seems to be enough but we like the way you think, there is always room for improvements and modifications when it comes to river gear. It is a little heavy however that is the reason it lasts forever, it has to be tough to take the heat and the river love it will receive. Thank you for your review and your business, we love to hear from you. Keep it Right Side Up, Renee
